Davis Bunn is an award-winning novelist whose audience spans reading genres from high drama and action thrillers to heartwarming relationship stories, in both contemporary and historical settings. He and his wife, Isabella, make their home in Florida for some of each year, and spend the rest near Oxford, England, where they each teach and write. Visit Davis' Web site at www.davisbunn.com The Lion of Babylon is set inside the war zone in Iraq. From the first page I could feel the intensity of this book, I simply could not put it down. The main character Marc Royce is literally thrown into the middle of nowhere with only a few hours to prepare. His mission to find some American hostages. One of which is his best friend. Along the way Marc meets Sameh, an Iraqi lawyer who takes Marc under his wing & teaches him about his Christian Faith. This new friendship allows Marc to meet Sameh's family, who against all odds become close confidants and friends. The author, Davis Bunn did a phenomenal job showing hat Marc, no matter what the cost to himself always did the right thing. I also feel that Mr. Bunn showed how all the characters were true to their faith & culture. He also gave a brief history during the books dialect as to the History of Baghdad. This book is so well written I felt that I was actually seeing the buildings & feeling the pressure, sadness, hurt that all the characters in this book felt. I highly recommend this book to anyone who like suspense, love & happiness. It truly will make for a remarkable Hollywood blockbuster. I look forward to reading more of Davis Bunn's books. *Disclosure....I received this book complementary from Bethany House Publications. I did not receive any monetary compensation for doing this review. This review is my own personal opinion, mine alone. |
