DEALING WITH NO ENERGY

I have been dealing with a lack of energy ALL day.  I think it may be something to do with my workout routine & the fact that I am not use to such a heavy work load yet. How or What do you do when you have that lazy butt syndrome?  I chose to not do anything but sit around to let my body heal, only to now feel worse than I started.  I have a feeling that wasn't the best option. I wanted to share with you my workout for the first week of the year.....
Monday: cardio (wii fit & EA sports total of 45 min)
Tuesday: butts & gluts (this is a 60 minute class that focuses entirely on your abs & gluts)
Wednesday: cardio + weight (treadmill 20 min) (bike 30 min) (focused mainly on arms)
Thursday: rest
Friday: Pillates
Saturday: REST

I am exhausted.  The hubby isn't very happy thou because I didn't clean at all nor did I work on the mountain of laundry that has mysteriously grown overnight.  Oh well it will get done, it always does:)

A NEW YEAR A NEW ME

Every year I make the same resolution, which like the majority of the nation is to lose weight.  Every year I start off strong doing everything by the book.  You know what I am talking about...eating the menu just as its planned out for me, exercising & doing the workouts that are planned for me.   Which ALWAYS leads me to failure.  I always lose weight right away so I allow myself cheat days (more than once or twice) so than I gain all the weight back & I give up.  WHY?  I don't let others know what I want to do so I have no one encouraging me.  Then two or three months later I am back at it.  Its a constant roller-coaster that I am on.  Well this year 2012 I am stepping off the roller-coaster.  A friend of mine from high school is a big advocate of vision boards. She always has goals listed on it & photos of items she wants to achieve hangs it on her mantel for all to see & works every day to achieve those goals or milestones in her life.

I decided this year I am going to make a self improvement vision board.  I thought I would share it with you.  Here is what I came up with.

MaryAnns' Self Improvement Vision Board....
1) GET MY BODY TO A HEALTHY BMI

2) ENCOURAGE HEALTHIER MEALS NOT JUST FOR MYSELF BUT ALSO MY FAMILY

3) GET 6-8 HOURS OF SOLID SLEEP AT NIGHT

4) GIVE MYSELF THE RIGHT TO EXERCISE FOR MY HEALTH & NOT FEEL GUILTY

5) DON'T  LET MYSELF FEEL LIKE PEOPLE ARE JUDGING ME FOR THERE IS ONLY 2 PEOPLE WHO CAN DO THAT.  MYSELF & GOD.  ALLOW OTHERS TO ENCOURAGE ME TO ACHIEVE MY GOALS!

6) BE COMFORTABLE IN A SWIM SUIT

7) DON'T EAT FAST FOOD...ITS JUST AS EASY TO GO TO SUBWAY FOR A HEALTHY SALAD
8) FIND A WORKOUT REGIME THAT WILL WORK FOR ME!  JUMP INTO IT & DON'T LOOK BACK...NOW IS THE TIME & NO MORE EXCUSES!!

9) SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH MY CHILDREN & HUSBAND DOING ACTIVE ACTIVITIES

HERE is THE WEIGHT GOAL...WE ALL HAVE ONE

10) DROP 40 POUNDS IN 8 MONTHS (THAT SHOULD BE EASY WITH 5#s A MONTH!!)

11) DON'T GIVE UP...WITH EVERY STRUGGLE KNOW ITS FOR THE BEST!!

So what do you think? Do you want to make a vision board for all to see?  I hope by sharing this it will help keep me more accountable for things that way.

Mondays are REALLY busy for me, but my goal is to start blogging on Mamavation Mondays again as well as do monthly, not weekly or daily weigh ins.  Good luck to all the other mamavation sistas to achieve the goals they have set for themselves for the year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!!!!

As most of you know I celebrated my 31st (golden) birthday yesterday .  I was spoiled rotten...which was way more than I could have expected.  But as the clock ticked away so did my birthday.  Which made me wonder...how do other people around the world celebrate New Years?  I decided that I am going to share some of my families traditions that we have each & every year for as long as I can remember.

When I was a child my entire family would gather around the T.V. to watch the big ball drop in New York city with Dick Clark.  We would than eat a slice of pickled herring & go to bed.  No elaborate decorations...no resolutions....just family, herring, & Dick Clark.  Than on New Years Day we would get up early to go to Church.

My husband had the same traditions as I.  However it would also include having his grandparents & Aunt & Uncle there.  They too had the pickled herring & Dick Clark, but they also had the tradition of shaking their coin purses when the clock struck 12.

When we got married we merged the traditions that we were brought up with & added some of our own as well.  This was the first year that our children were truly into what New Years all was & understood that a New Year was beginning.  We also shared the night with some friends of ours, who asked why we had the traditions we did & what it meet....So here is what we found as to the true meaning behind our traditions & perhaps my answers will encourage a new tradition for you & your loved ones...

Midnight= Kiss your spouse or loved one (ok I know we all do that)

Shake your coin purse:  This is a tradition that my in-laws have, which now my husband & I do with our children.  My mother-in-law says that they do this so that their coin purse always stays full.

Eating Pickled Herring: Because of their abundance in Western Europe and their silvery, coin-like coloring, it is a New Years’ Eve tradition to eat pickled herring at the stroke of midnight to ensure a year of bounty and prosperity.

Enjoying a glass of Champagne: This is a tradition that Dan & I brought into the mix. I don't really know the true history of this, but for us its because we like the taste.

So from my family to yours, we would like to wish you a VERY healthy, happy, peaceful Happy New Year!  Cheers to 2012!
